Center for Faith and Opportunity Initiatives (The Partnership Center)
HHS' Center for Faith and Opportunity Initiatives, known as the Partnership Center, exists to “build and support partnerships with faith-based and community organizations in order to better serve individuals, families and communities in need.” Under Trump, the Center spearheaded a large outreach initiative to religious groups asking about their priorities, which initiated a rulemaking process that pandered to the groups by rolling back Obama-era protections for transgender patients and abortion access. The Center was also behind the decisions to strip HHS’s four-year strategic plan of any language referencing LGBT health and to ensure that the plan refers to life as beginning at conception.
