Equity Forward Ramps Up Digital Campaign, Pro-Lies.org, to Highlight Anti-Abortion Lobby’s Toxic Influence on Women’s Health Care

NEW YORK – As state governments across the country dramatically reduce women’s ability to access health care, Equity Forward is expanding Pro-Lies.org.

The website is an extensive library of research on twelve anti-abortion organizations that distort the truth and peddle misinformation and outright lies in their coordinated efforts to deny health care.

Equity Forward has added two new profiles of  the anti-abortion organizations, Priests for Life and American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists. These groups join other toxic organizations such as Susan B. Anthony List (and their companion research arm Charlotte Lozier Institute), March for Life, and Americans United for Life

The site provides a detailed look at how the anti-reproductive rights movement is colluding with the Trump administration and state governments to advance its dangerous agenda at all levels of government. The American public did not elect the anti-abortion lobby — and in fact, most voters don’t agree with these extremist groups — yet the Trump administration and state elected officials, who passed dangerous, overreaching abortion bans this year, follow the lobby’s guidance on restricting health care for millions of people.

“The anti-abortion lobby tries to hide behind the guise that it is driven by a dedication to ‘life’ — but the groups behind this coordinated assault threaten the lives and well-being of countless women and families across the country,” said Mary Alice Carter, senior advisor for Equity Forward. “These groups have far too much unchecked political power and it’s time to take a hard look at their efforts to restrict women’s access to health care. The anti-abortion lobby’s influence is harming the public, and we must hold it accountable.”

About Equity Forward: Equity Forward is a watchdog project that seeks to ensure transparency and accountability among anti-reproductive health groups and individuals who are actively working to deny people access to services such as birth control and abortion. We are a staff of researchers, lawyers and communications professionals that uses research to inform reports and campaigns to effectively reduce or eliminate the damaging work of anti-reproductive health forces.
