In January 2018, HHS’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) announced the creation of its new Conscience and Religious Freedom Division (CRFD), which aims to protect health workers “with moral or religious objections to performing certain procedures, including things like abortion or sex reassignment surgery for transgender patients.” The CRFD must be dissolved under the Biden administration.
