The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health's (OASH’s) OPA administers Title X, which remains the only federal program dedicated to family planning services and serves over 4 million low-income, uninsured patients who otherwise would not have access to care. Under the Trump administration, OPA’s Title X grant guidelines deemphasized the importance of birth control in favor of abstinence and “natural family planning,” such as the rhythm method, and OPA granted Title X funds to an organization that does not believe in distributing birth control. Under the Biden administration, the integrity of OPA must be restored.
