USAID Office of Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment

Housed within the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Bureau for Economic Growth, Education and Environment (E3), the Office of Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment has a mandate to mainstream gender equality throughout the agency’s work as well as commandeer a number of programs worldwide. During the Trump administration, this office has represented the United States at United Nations conferences including the Commission on the Status of Women. Officials include Bethany Kozma, who has advocated against the inclusion of gender and reproductive health language in international agreements and resolutions.
