Equity Forward Responds as Court Rules Missouri Abortion Clinic Can Remain Open
06.10.19 – Just now, a St. Louis circuit court issued a preliminary injunction allowing Missouri’s only remaining abortion clinic to remain operational. This decision prevents Missouri from becoming the first state in the country without a health center providing legal abortion care since before Roe v. Wade.
In response to the state’s continued targeting of the clinic, Equity Forward filed Sunshine Law requests for all materials and correspondence related to the state’s campaign against the clinic from the offices of Missouri’s governor, attorney general and Department of Health and Senior Services.
“While we’re thankful that the court temporarily allowed women and families in Missouri to continue accessing critical care, Missourians deserve transparency around the state’s ongoing administrative campaign to eliminate their access to health care,” said Mary Alice Carter, senior advisor to Equity Forward.
