Restoring Reproductive Rights Data Across State Department and USAID Reports

To enable work that advances health equity, federal agencies should strengthen data collection pertaining to reproductive health, and access to that data must be enhanced. Under the previous administration, crucial data points on birth control access and abortion were eliminated across federal agencies, including from the State Department’s human rights reports and the USAID gender equality report. These data points must be restored to critical policies and reports across agencies, and additional safeguards should be implemented to protect against discriminatory decisions jeopardizing data in the future.
